This is going to be a truly epic week on both sites.
*snigger* Mark has probably had the Council of Elrond review ready for some time, but I just got this idea that it would be cool to have it in the form of a business meeting minutes. :D

Guys, tell me, is this spoilery if I post it in the Council of Elrond review?

To clarify in modern terms, the Rings of Power are computer programs. The Nine Rings were loaded down with viruses and other malware that corrupted their users. The Seven Rings came packaged with adware of the Nigerian Bank variety, that the dwarves foolishly clicked on. As for the Three Rings, Sauron gave the elves the code for the program, leaving himself a back door to gain access whenever he wanted. Luckily, the elves’ virus protection was up to date.

The only thing I can think of as spoilery here is that we don't really know what happened with the dwarf rings, but is it ever explicitly stated that they corrupted through greed in the book, or just implied? What do you guys think? Can I post this?

Mark: "NONE OF YOU WARNED ME ABOUT TED. OH MY GOD. SEND ME AN AMBULANCE. PLEASE HELP ME. WHAT THE FUCK."
Question: Should I do a Linguistic Corner tomorrow? There's no actual Elvish in "The Council of Elrond", only a bunch of names of Quenya or Sindarin origin...

So I was trolling the Lord of the Rings tag on Tumblr, and this happened:

Forget Awful Comment of the Week, this may become Awful Comment of the Day. Here's today's offering. We've got tone argument and "why won't you educate me/others?" PLUS use of an ableist word. IT'S THE TRIFECTA, LADIES AND GENTS.

... I'm going back to making Council of Elrond notes and uploading arts. I'm thisclose to giving up on posting comments in the Buffy reviews and only really commenting on LOTR. I can't take much more of this and we're not even halfway through the second season.

You guys, my laptop died last night, and my first thought was...BUT HOW WILL I LIVE WITHOUT THE COMMENTS ON MARK READS/WATCHES?

Luckily I have some money saved up so I can buy a new one if my dad can't fix the old one (he is a computer genius), but still...wah! I live alone and I don't have cable so my laptop is literally my only source of entertainment. Except for knitting, AND I CAN ONLY KNIT SO MUCH.

Can someone e-mail Mark, please? The FOTR review is late again...
I have a question about intense debate. When I'm on my phone, I can use intense debate to comment on this blog just like normal. But I can't sign in and comment over on Mark Reads or Mark Watches. I actually thought this was a problem with intense debate until I tried it over here. But I guess it's a WordPress thing. Do other people run into this? Is there a work-around (I have android's newest OS if that helps. I think it's called ice cream sandwich)? Or do I just have to find a computer when I want to comment on one of Mark's posts?

You'd think an AI researcher would know more about this stuff, but I don't

On a positive note, I am already flailing so hard about tomorrow's LOTR chapter not just because of FELLOWSHIP FINALLY TOGETHER, but also because of the title. THAT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS ON THE FOTR SOUNDTRACK. I love how Howard Shore teases you with little hints of the Fellowship theme, starting when Frodo and Sam are in that field, and gradually growing stronger, building up to that fantastic moment when they're all finally together and starting their journey. <3

Okay, so I've been watching Buffy along with the blog and when I made my comment about the Giles/Jenny fangirl/boy/variations therupon committee founding, I swear I had NO IDEA what episode was coming up tomorrow. Christ my timing.

I'm really enjoying reading the comments of all the people watching Buffy for the first time along with Mark, particularly enigmaticagentscully, and I see her so vehemently shipping Giles and Jenny, which makes me smile because they are wonderful and I love them too. Oh, guys, you must listen to this: This guy made a gorgeous arrangement using the musical themes in the Hobbit trailer and expanding them. <3 If this amateur arrangement sounds so awesome, just imagine what the REAL Howard Shore soundtrack will be like! :D <3

Damn, I can't wait for December...

Well, that was just strange. Someone replied to my post in today's FOTR chapter, saying in rot13 that we don't know yet that Bilbo's coat of mail is mithril, and asked if a mod could rot13 that part of my post. But the mail is explicitly called that in The Hobbit when he gets it from Thorin. ALSO I MYSELF AM A MOD. xD
