Just one nitpick: he's going to continue LOTR! :D
I think this is the first time I've had all my presents wrapped and ready to go by 10pm on Christmas Eve in the history of MY LIFE. And it only took me one episode of Castle and one episode of The Daily Show on Hulu.

I hope y'all are having a merry holiday! I have to go try to convince my foster kitten that even though the Christmas tree has a lot of dangly things on it, it's not actually the biggest cat toy ever. (His name is Pippin, btw. I named him that because he's small, loves to eat, and is full of mischief. He also falls over a lot.)
what the fuck is this?

thank you, Mark, for dealing with that BS.

Happy Doctor Who Christmas Special Day!
For some reason the only time the Who special is being re-aired here is at like 6 in the morning tomorrow, so I guess I'm downloading. Ah well.
Happy birthday to all people unlucky enough to be born on Christmas!

Also, DW special was pure <3 V jnag gur Qbpgbe gb erabingr zl ubhfr, naq Nzl jvgu n jngre tha jnf oevyyvnag
Is the schedule confirmed or is Mark doing a predictions post on Thursday? Oh, and I suppose a Doctor Who post on Tuesday is also possible.
My cable just added BBCA this week. I'm so happy.

So I got 'The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms' by N.K. Jemisin for Christmas, and promptly stayed up until 2am reading it last night. And now I kind of want to suggest it to Mark to read at some point, NGL. (Though until I've read the other two I'll definitely hold off!)

Has anyone else here read the Inheritance Trilogy? (I really wish it didn't share a name with the Inheritance *Cycle*...) If so, anyone else think Mark might like them?

Oh god. I rewatched Lie to Me this weekend, I forgot how sad it was.

Excited about this weeks lineup- I really think Prophecy Girl/When She Was Bad was when the show came into itself fully.
Guys, the Downton Abbey Christmas Special was pure perfection. PERFECTION, I TELL YOU. <3 <3 <3

I can't wait for Mark to get there.

Day 27 – The most surprising plot twist or ending

This meme likes to torture me with hard questions, huh?

I'll admit to being pretty hard to fool with plot twists. I've gotten rather genre savvy, and can usually predict this type of stuff. I remember being really blown away by The Prisoner Of Azkaban, and I still love how JK completely made me reevaluate the events of the book. The reveal at the end of the Philosopher's Stone was pretty good, but that was just basic misdirection. The third book changed everything.

I'd also say the ending to "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult. I won't say what it is for obvious reasons, but I thought I'd been spoiler for the ending, so it was doubly shocking.

Hmm, I can't think of anything else. Maybe the stuff you guys come up with will remind me.

Also, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas/other winter holiday!

Day 28 – Favorite title

Hmm. Titles are a strange thing, aren't they? They can tell you so much about a book or TV show, and yet, so little. And eventually, the titles cease to have meaning, and just become a name for something.

I always liked the names to Gareth Nix's "Keys to the Kingdom" series of books, even though I haven't quite finished them. "Mister Monday", "Grim Tuesday", "Drowned Wednesday"....they're interesting, curious, make you wonder what they're about, and relate to the plot.

I don't know. This is really the last thing I think about when it comes to books. I'm thinking of all the books I like, but I'm not saying "OH, YEAH, THAT TITLE".

Oooh, can I plug chapter titles? If so, nominations go to "Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs" from PoA, and from 'Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief" I'd say "Three Old Ladies Knit the Socks of Death" and "I Become Supreme Lord of the Bathroom".

Day 29 – A book everyone hated but you liked

Hmm. Honestly, I haven't read a lot of books that everyone hates. I'm having trouble even thinking of one.

Um. Hmm. I'll go with "The Crucible", which is technically a play, but I read is as a book (as well as watched it and performed it, but shush.) I find the fate of a lot of books studied in High School or College gets hated by the majority. Possibly because they're just biased by studying it, possibly because expending all sorts of energy saps the life from it, but I absolutely adore the Crucible. Its such a powerful play about the dangers of hysteria and the way people can be controlled.

Not sure if it completely counts since Miller is considered one of the greatest playwrites of the 20th century, but whatever. XD

I'm listening to my itunes on random and a song from Fellowship! A Musical Parody of Fellowship of the Ring (the movie) came on and it got me all emotional for the end of the book. It's a fabulous song (as is the whole soundtrack) and after much searching I found somewhere to listen to them for free!

The song I was listening to was Song of Destiny and it just captures the spirit of LotR so well.

So I'm about to start a watch/liveblog of Princess Tutu (which I have been recced so many times it's unreal), and I noticed that Mark has it down as something he plans to watch! I remember hearing that the thing after Buffy will be Cowboy Bebop, but do we have any knowledge of when he's doing what beyond that? Just curious, because with it so fresh in my mind it'll be interesting to watch him, er, watch it.

So, School Hard is happening next week, either on Monday or Tuesday, and in honor of how much anticipation there has been for Fcvxr's first appearance, I decided it would be fun to make countdowns, but I don't think I can embed them in a comment. So, here are links instead!

If the review goes up Tuesday (approx at 10 AM PST) here's the countdown:

If it goes up Monday here's the other countdown:
