Mark Watches ‘Doctor Who’: S05E0t – Amy's Choice

Over at 'Watches' it feels like Mark is going through this season too fast with 'Amy's Choice' going up already!

/sniffle

We're going to be out of Who soon at this rate!

Spoilers (and Rory is jealous with IRONY) below!

Had to post this while Rory is still in 'sort-of-jealous-boyfriend-mode' and BEFORE the events of the next two episodes occur.

Have something more normal now! Arthur (Rory) is a daft wee child!

EDIT:  Thank you toNB2000 and psycicflower for pointing this out! The prequel for 'The Impossible Astronaut' is officially up! And OMG is it AMAZING!!!

Haha, nice timing that the hipster-doctor tumblr hit 1,000 followers today.
Mildy related comment time, but I had a bizarre Markspoils/DW dream last night and I have to share! It started off with me checking my emails. One was from Steven Moffat and it consisted of the word “Rookwood”. Apparently he had set up this online game where he would randomly email code words to people who had signed up, and then we had to work together to solve puzzles/problems in the DW universe. Upon submitting this word to the game, I was transported to this extremely tall tower called the TARDIS which had stairs going off in all sorts of strange directions and different environments on every floor. While there I ran into all of you from the Spoilerblog, there was much running up and down stairs and we put together a puzzle in order to ward off goblins that were attacking from beneath. In the end they were distracted by a spell that set up illusions of thousands of mice weaving gold. Just as we were figuring out how to seal them off into their own permanent prison in the TARDIS dungeons, I woke up. IT WAS AWESOME!

I love Amy's Choice but I'm having such a mental block today I haven't clue what I'm going to say about it.

The prequel for The Impossible Astronaut went up at 4pm GMT today and joy of joys it isn't regioned!

Why isn't it April 23rd yet?

Simon Nye MUST COME BACK AND WRITE AMAZING EPISODES AGAIN. Watching this a second time (AND KNOWING WHO THE HELL THE DREAM LORD IS) only makes it even more of a mind fuck. WELL DONE, SIR, VERY WELL DONE!
Asking for advice re Mark's The Hunger Games and sequels reviews.

So I've finally gotten some much needed free time, and read the first two books within the last week, and will probably start and finish the third pretty soon.

But a friend told me that I might not like Mark's reviews, especially since I'd told he doesn't seem to care for Katniss as much as I (and she) would hope, and cares more about the action, which I don't care as much about.

My question that I'd like input on is do you think I might actually be disappointed by his reviews and people's comments? Should I not read them?

To help clarify, I love Katniss and don't want her getting slammed, and I really don't care about ship wars and don't particularly want to read it even if it is calm discussion. Like I said, I've only read the first two books, but my main interest in the books is building up the rebellion aspects of the plot and the worldbuilding and stuff.

Question for people who've seen the prequel:

Does it sort of introduce crucial plot elements for the episode, or is just a bit of a "while you're waiting" prequel? In other words, if I'm one of those people who avoid trailers and promotional pictures and spoilers and things so I can experience the series without any sort of expectations (other than IT'S GOING TO BE AWESOME and a few tidbits I picked up from not scrolling fast enough through Tumblr), would it be safe to watch the prequel so early?

Man, I really want to talk about the Valeyard on Mark's blog. I don't think I should though. ARGH.

Valeyard = Dream Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need to get that out my system. God I really want Mark to know about this. When it comes to episodes that explore the Doctor's dark side there's always a mention of the Valeyard in reviews. I feel like Mark is missing out :(
Had to resist laying it on a bit thick about Rory not being the leaving type. Cue "For 2000 years I waited" gif here.

Okay, so if a person *cough* wanted to offer up gif-making services to Spoilerblog people, so they can have gifs of the things they want for their reviews or something, do you think it would be better to do it in the Sunday Summary posts, the episode posts that come about two hours before the review, or the previous episode posts in a sort of preparatory way?

Opinions?

Okay, so I'm kind of confused about this line in Mark's review:

Who is he and why does he hate the Doctor so much? I love that this is never answered because it shifts the focus away from an explanation and moreso to the experience.

But... doesn't the who and why of the Dreamlord actually get answered and doesn't Mark actually address it further down? Or is he talking about that it's not revealed while the Dreamlord is around? Am I dreaming? I hear birds...

No one mentioned it, so I guess I should; Mark tweeted that there's not gonna be a Fringe liveblog tonight, as he's in NY and doesn't have access to a TV or computer.

(And Misha Collins recently tweeted that his pinatas are always filled with lasagna, because he is a lovely ridiculous man)

Oh my god, I'm working on my Pandorica Opens review now, and the ending is making me cry all over my keyboard. MARK IS SO UNPREPARED, IT TRANSCENDS ALL PREVIOUS LEVELS OF UNPREPAREDNESS

LULZ. Maybe it's the nature of this episode, but so far I haven't had to get rid of anything (course, I'm jinxing myself by saying so) on Mark Watches... but I did just have to delete spam that made it through the filter on Mark Reads (someone posted an image that links to... some Potter-related thing they wanted to promote). Makes for a nice, and amusing, change.

Lol, I was going to post something in my comment about how there is a pattern of Mark being underwhelmed (Vampires of Venice, Victory of the Daleks), and that maybe he should avoid episodes beginning with a V-- then doing a mental check I was like OH WAIT NO DON'T DO THAT AT ALL and then deleted the whole bit because expectation spoilers. But it amused me.

The 'iconic image' for series 5 is up on the BBC website. I don't think it's spoilery but I'll link just in case. http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/dw/news/bulletin_1...
Is it me or can you see something behind Amy's arm? Or is it just a random shape and I'm seeing things?

Say is there ever a time I can mention the Hartmel Masterplan?

I've always been intrigued by it and it's not spoilers. It's what was going to happen if the show wasn't canceled in the 80's.

The newest teefury shirt is out, and it's this design:

As of this post (about 11 pm PDT), everyone has about 22 hours left to buy it, then it won't be available anymore. Just a heads up for anyone interested. <a href="http://www.teefury.com/" target="_blank">http://www.teefury.com/
