I've been requested to play an accordion set at a banquet! Ordinarily this would be an easy decision, but the banquet is for the SEVRAQF BS GUR AEN.
Lrf. Sevraqf bs gur AEN. V terj hc yrneavat tha fnsrgl naq rawbl fubbgvat nf n ubool, ohg gur AEN vf jnl gbb bss va rkgerzr pbafreingvir ynaq sbe zr gb or pbzsbegnoyr gb or n cneg bs.
Now I'm leaning pretty heavily towards no - but it would be good performing experience for me and I'd probably get paid. Advice?

The direction and editing are brilliant. I'm used to so many TV shows being shot with very sterile shoot-and-point style, that the in a way watching this show feels like watching a really long movie more than something on television.
The writing is really, really interesting. The way they establish characters and tension without even uttering a single line is great, and the way characters are set up is just so good. Please tell me the show keeps up this kind of strength. I've seen far too many shows start off great and then flop around after a couple of seasons (im looking at you scrubs).

Anyway, we were talking about The Hunger Games and how awesome Katniss is and all of that and I eventually asked her if she had been rooting for Gale or if she was happy Katniss ended up with Peeta, because I'm a shipper and these sorts of things matter to me. Anyway, she said that she thought Katniss should have ended up alone and it was stupid that she got married and had kids after everything she'd been through.
So I told her she had to read Graceling. That's not too advanced for a 9 year old is it?

Which really is silly, because we all know you're a snow bunny.

Plaintext in reply, rot13 welcome, I am semi-prepared but do not want discussion of spoilery things unless I explicitly say I remember something.

Discuss how you got into Harry Potter and Why You Still Love It
Hello, everyone! I still find it hard to believe that we haven’t done a HP meme yet, but I guess we did use it so much for answers to other memes that it just seemed like it. Besides, the Spoils Hive Mind insists that we haven’t, and we are never wrong, for we are legion.
Anyway, when I first had Harry Potter read to me, if you had told me that one day I’d be running a written club of sorts about why I love it, I would have laughed in your face. I’ve probably told this story here before, but I’m dyslexic. I’ve gotten over it by now, although I have difficulty spelling new words or learning new languages. Reading was the bane of my existence, filled with funny little symbols that looked near identical. How was I supposed to care about the difference between ‘d’ and ‘b’, and how could any information contained in books actually be interesting?
My uncle was (and still is, incidentally) a teacher, and his discovery that I didn’t read didn’t please him much. He decided he would make me want to learn to read! So he bought me a copy of this Harry Potter book he’d heard so much about, and read me the first chapter.
I hated it.
It was boring, and dumb, and the main character had the stupidest name I’d ever heard; Hairy Potter? Was his mother “Feathered”?
So that didn’t really work out well. That initial experiment was a failure. He left the book with my family, though, and about five months later the day came. My mother and sister were out, so I had no one to play with. It was raining, so I couldn’t go outside. My friends were all busy. There were no good cartoons on. So I approached my dad, prepared to do anything to escape the boredom, and I asked him; “Can we try that fluffy book again?”
“Huh?” he said.
“You know, the one about Fluffy or Furry whatever. It had a train on the cover. I’m bored.”
He only faintly remembered the book, but he was just so excited to have me reading anything at all that he quickly found it and settled down for story-time. This time, I loved it. Somehow those few months had made an amazing difference; I laughed at the jokes, I wanted to find out what happened next. Over the next few years I fully threw myself into the world of Harry Potter. The characters became friends, taking me on amazing adventures. Suddenly, I had a reason to want to read. That was the gift JK Rowling gave to me; not only her own amazing world, but that of a million other books and stories, too.
That’s not the only reason that I love HP today, of course. I love the plotting, the characters, the prose, the hints and twists hid throughout all seven books. I love the community which has sprung up around it, the feeling that my entire generation has shared this world with me. The knowledge that one day I’ll be able to share this with a new generation, maybe even my own children. But I’ll never forget that biggest gift HP gave to me; my love of reading.
Everyone feel free to share your own thoughts and experiences! Tomorrow we’ll be discussing your favourite book.

I'VE DECIDED TO HANG OUT HERE NOW.
Also, I don't have much to do/have a lot of stuff I'm avoiding in lab,/the post is late so, um, I need to be entertained? Please to be linking me to awesome sites I may not know about yet?
ETA: and as soon as I say it's late, it appears!

So this is the 10th anniversary of Firefly. Does that mean we can give up on all the campaigns, pleas, and general whining for a Season 2 now? Please?

FINALLY getting back to this. Funfact: Moving is FUCKING MISERABLE and so many things break when you take them to new places that I might as well have just rented a team of helicopters to lift my old house to a new area.
But anyway, onto more dancing/emotional issues/things being ripped out of people's chests/Drosselmeyer being an unmitigated asshole.

I am unprepared. Rot13 for major spoilers, although I really don't mind if you accidentally let a minor one slip. Plain text in reply.
I pretty much spent the whole day watching FMA: B so I thought I'd do some Slayers so I don't get too ahead of arctic_hare and mix up episodes. My goal is to try to finish the first series this week!
