Tuesday: Battlestar Galactica - Sometimes A Great Notion (series 4.5 opener)
Wednesday: Battlestar Galactica - The Face of The Enemy (webisodes)
Thursday: Battlestar Galactica - A Disquiet Follows My Soul (extended version)
Friday: Battlestar Galactica - The Oath

Liveblog
Friday: Fringe - Wallflower

Meanwhile over on Reads, Mark finishes The Hobbit.

Also, for those of you with access to BBC, Children in Need is on this Friday which means some new Doctor Who! It's a live show so we don't have an exact time but at some stage between 8.00 and 8.30 CiN will be showing an exclusive preview of the Christmas Special. For everyone else, check out BBC's official youtube channel or other ~completely legal means~ after it airs. Odds are some Doctor Who alumni will probably be taking part in CiN so keep an eye out for those as well.

EDIT
It looks like we're going to be getting a new mini-episode for Children in Need as well!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, the Hunger Games Trailer!

...may the odds be ever in your favour!

(But seriously, though, I think it looks cool! I haven't really been able to form a more coherent opinion than that, though.)

So, I saw this circulating Tumblr and at first I thought it was a joke but apparently ||||||||Davis Yates is going to direct the bigscreen version of Doctor Who.

I cannot begin to describe the amount of DO NOT WANT I experienced reading this.

Okay, sorry for the double post...but well, I've got more movie news. Take a guess at which movie I could be thinking of. Any ideas? No?

Doctor Who.

And no, not a Doctor Who done by Steven Moffat or RTD. Apparently, David Yates, director of the...last four, I believe, Harry Potter films says that he's going to direct a DW movie, seperate from the current canon. I'm not sure if he means only post-Eight canon, or all of it, but...

He announced it to the press today, and he sounded fairly confident, saying they're currently looking for writers. But DW Magazine said these are rumours. So- not completely sure what that's about.

This is what Yates had to say:

The notion of the time-travelling Time Lord is such a strong one, because you can express story and drama in any dimension or time,

“We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too,” he explained.

According to Variety there's going to be a Doctor Who movie directed by David Yates.
"We're looking at writers now. We're going to spend two to three years to get it right," he said. "It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena." ...
Yates made clear that his movie adaptation would not follow on from the current TV series, but would take a completely fresh approach to the material. "Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.

Guys, guys, CALM DOWN. It might be just a hoax ("news" of a Doctor Who film resurface regularly every now and then).

From edwardrussel on twitter: "Off Twitter for a few hours and the Doctor Who world explodes. There's always talk of a movie. Perhaps? Maybe one day. But not right now!"

And from DWMTweets: "To those hearing Doctor Who movie rumours, it's just the same rumours which have been going round for years. Nothing's currently happening!"

So...I finished about half of Dalek (fie upon the world for having to work!), how is it managing to make me both terrified of the Dalek and feel really sorry for it (especially knowing what they have shown they are capable of over the previous seasons). My brain and my heart don't know what to think or how to feel. Wow!

Has Mark said whether he's doing a "breather" show before Buffy? Just trying to get an accurate idea of when the Buffy reviews will start. It would make sense. BSG and Buffy are both fairly lengthy so a short break would be a good idea before the plunge.

Did anyone here see Moffat's reaction to the Yates DW rumor?

I just love it when he trolls.

Still from DW Christmas Special (link to tumblr)

I am almost entirely unspoiled about the special (don't know the premise or anything like that) so I have no damn clue what the context is.

Okay, two things.

1.) Did anyone see Elijah Wood on The Colbert Report the other night? I know some folks have been anticipating sharing with Mark all the "Colbert geeks out about LotR" moments from the show, and this should definitely be part of that. It was a really fun interview, too. (Colbert, though, I love you: "More Gandalfy," indeed.)

2.) This is a total crack idea, I admit, but rewatching the Elijah Wood interview gave me a flashback to... god, I don't even remember which extended thing it was in, but... Tig. I kind of want to play Tig with Mark during LotR -- or do something that would have the same effect as Tig.

(Yes, I know I'm basically saying, "Let's troll Mark while he reads LotR!" but the thought still amuses me, so I decided to put it out there.)

(Also, please excuse this non sequitor for a bit of shameless advertising. Y'all remember the TARDIS I knit? Well, I can knit lots of other things, and if a person paid me, I would knit something for them at reasonable rates. I'm still trying to work out how I could/should approach this "commission me to knit" thing, but for now, if you're interested, this journal post should cover it, if barely.)

Children in Need

Since there's a good chance a lot of Doctor Who alumni or even just people from other shows will be taking part, here's a general thread. I'll try to put up relevant youtube videos since the BBC tends to be good about putting them up unregioned for their charity shows.
