The Great 30-Day Who MEME!!!! - Day Twenty

What is the prettiest scene?

At last! A day that's incredibly easy to answer! The scene in 'Vincent and the Doctor' when they're staring up at the sky, of course!

In fact this entire episode is just gorgeous. Leave it to an episode about one of the world's greatest artists to raise the bar on how each episode should be presented.

So what about you? What is the scene you find the prettiest?

There are loads of pretty scenes with characters or the TARDIS against beautiful back grounds and all of the space shots are gorgeous but since it made me pause a moment because it was completely unexpected and just gorgeous I’m going with the Starry Night scene from Vincent and the Doctor.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic Simply beautiful.

How to choose?! I want to basically say all of Vincent and the Doctor, but unlike E.L.S.O.S., I'm not picking a specific scene.

(E.L.S.O.S. posted basically the same gif, but it's so pretty why not see it again?)

But A TON of Season 5 is gorgeous, so this is just the stand-out episode to me. Honorable mentions include The Eleventh Hour (lens flares!), The Beast Below, and The Big Bang (that wedding scene when Amy remembers is utterly gorgeous).

So I'm going to be completely unoriginal and say: Starry Night scene from Vincent and the Doctor

Because you can never see it enough times:

Can I just say... ALL of Vincent and the Doctor? It was just beautiful on all accounts.
Vincent and the Doctor is just pretty all around-obviously anything inspired by van Gogh instantly becomes gorgeous. I guess I'm a sucker for all things beautiful because this is my favourite episode. The colours are really vibrant throughout, the production set the bar for this episode.

Amy floating in space also comes to mind (red hair+dark blue background=just lovely to look at).

And, since I was watching a few clips of the Next Doctor, I think the opening scene is quite pretty. The snow, the Victorian Christmas...it almost makes up for the story (which I am NOT fond of).

OH OH OH

I WISH A HAD THE GIF

But when the camera is panning down over Kazran's town RIGHT after the opening credits.

OH OH OH

And the fishes swimming around the street lamp.

OH OH OH

And the the scene where it starts to snow as Abigale sings to the fish.

JUST DAMN BEAUTIFUL GUYS

Also, special mention to the Silurian civilization which, despite being in a rather boring episode, was quite magnificent.

Pretty much all of Vincent and the Doctor, but especially the Starry Night scene. I was going to post the gif, but everyone's beaten me to it, haha. :D
Basically every moment of series 5? No? I can't just say that?
Well Vincent and the Doctor, obviously.
Eleventh Hour, obviously.
Vampires of Venice was gorgeous! The Doctor was so pretttttty! The colouring of the entire episode really complimented Matt Smith and his old man clothes.
The forest in the space ship, with the angels, and Amy walking through it. Yep. Looked amazing.
Amy's Choice had lots of lovely beautiful shots. Can CGI be beautiful? I think so. The cold star was amazing.
What about non series 5 moments? uhmm... Nothing springs to mind. Bad Wolf bay was quite pretty in a stark, horribly sad way.
Pompeii was great. Lots of beautiful shots there.
I also liked Elizabethan England in Shakespeare Code.
And the Ood sphere was amazing!

But the whole of series 5. Just. Unf! I don't know what they did differently, but it's so noticeable.
Everyone else has Vincent and the Doctor as their number ones, so I'll go with the Ood sphere and also that shot of Amy and the Doctor with the apple and the sunlight making Karen's hair look fabulous in the Eleventh Hour.

As echinodermata mentioned, has to be Amy's teardrop for me. However, River riding the 'air corridor' to the Tardis at the start of 'The Time of Angels" does spring to mind, but I suppose that'd be the most "glamourous" scene.

P.s. I'm currently working on a logo for markspoils in the style of the series 5 one, here is how it's looking so far:

Replicating the Tardis light on top is proving a nightmare! But I'm just wondering who/where I should contact once I'm finished to send over the full .psd, if you'd like it..?

Being a Roman Nerd, I love Fires of Pompeii. I loved Rome, too, so that's not really a surprise.

I also loved Versailles in Girl in the Fireplace. Mostly, I adored Reinette's dresses and want the saque-back gown she was wearing when she popped on to the spaceship.

I was not impressed with Amy's wedding dress when it was on the hanger- it just looked bleh. But on her? SOMEONE GO FIND ME A RORY TO MARRY RIGHT AWAY.

...I like clothes...
Hey guys! For once Miss. SERIES 1-4 FTW is going with half of the other people here and saying STARRY NIGHT. prettiest scene in the history of ever.

I think I will echo everyone here and say the Starry Night scene.
Pretty much all of "Vincent and the Doctor" and "A Christmas Carol." Today really is the most repetitive meme, isn't it?
Can I be really weird and say I love the garden with the terraforming sphere from "The Doctor's Daughter"? I don't know if it's my favorite, but the visuals in that episode are predominately functional and bleak, and then all of a sudden wham, this oasis of beauty. Then things get worse, of course, but still, it's damn pretty.
When Donna and the Doctor first exit the TARDIS in the Planet of the Ood. Oh, just look at that beautiful snow scenery, and the twin moons! Gorgeous!

Otherwise...Vincent and the Doctor. Yeah, repetitive, at this point. But another scene in that, besides the obvious, it the wonderfully beautiful scene with Van Gogh in the museum, with the paintings behind him in a swirl and Nye's monologue. Wonderful.
I agree about "Vincent and the Doctor" and "A Christmas Carol" being the prettiest, but for the sake of variety...

It's brief, but I loved this planet they visited in "The Pandorica Opens". The giant mushrooms and foliage were so beautiful and striking.
