Almost midterms time. I don't have high hopes for the Senate any more unless the polls are just wildly wrong and maybe oversampling older voters, but I doubt that will be enough to put O'Rourke and Bredesen over the top. Hopefully Sinema and Rosen can at least win. In fact, if they win and the only Democratic seat to flip is North Dakota, the Senate is 50-50, which isn't great beacuse Pence, but it means if the Democrats vote as a bloc then they only will need one Republican instead of two to put a stop to the Senate agenda.

Tor just announced a Good Omens Reread blog series, starting next Monday: https://www.tor.com/2018/10/15/introducing-the-go...

I don't know whether I'll follow it. I fiercely resent the book for giving me countless nightmares about the Horsepersons, but would like to appreciate it more because it's a unique marvel of weirdness and pathos.

This is where Mark lets us know when the new videos are up (they're usually uploaded all at once). Please do not try to buy a new episode until he posts here (or on Twitter) to say there's something new ready to download. SERIOUSLY.

Link exchanges and donations take place on the Black Market post. Below are links to the store page for the show (just click on the show title), plus a list of the episodes that we expect to be uploaded for the week.

Good News Post, October 15-22 Edition

My brother just received an official invitation from the organizers of the Grand Rapids Comic Con to bring the Harry Potter-themed escape room we designed to the con as an official con event. We get a free room, admission, and they're paying us $500 for the weekend!

Anyone else have any good news to share to lighten up this depressing month?

Julie D'Aubigny spent her short life fighting, dueling and seducing her way across 17th century France

Ok, so in the spirit of the season, I thought I'd ask:

What recommendations do y'all have for horror movies?

I'm usually a big ol' baby when it comes to horror movies. Like, "can't sleep properly for a week" kind of baby. However, I've worked as a scare actor for several seasons now and have come to appreciate the art of scaring. When you nail it, it's so much fun, for you as the actor and for the customer. So, I'm wanting to give horror movies another shake...especially considering my first one ever was The Exorcist in 6th grade. Not really a good one to start with if you're just starting to test the waters with this kind of movie. lol XD

I'm thinking of starting with some of the old school slasher flicks (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc), since over-the-top gore doesn't really get to me. Maybe followed by the Netflix series that just came out (seen folks describe it as more creepy and eerie than outright scary). I think these might be a good way to ease my way in without giving myself nightmares.

I started an anime today, "Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School."

I've watched LPs of Danganronpa 1, 2, and v3. Two episodes into this show.

Saw Mark tweeting about it and was wondering if anyone else wanted to join the conversation--who else has been watching The Haunting of Hill House?

Emma Approved

So I've been thinking about introducing my mom to the original Emma Approved since the new season is here. We watched Lizzie Bennet Diaries together in full, but we had the DVDs. My mom isn't a big computer-watcher, so I don't see her watching every single Emma Approved ep (not to mention, it took us almost a year to get through LBD.)

Does anyone have recommendations on an abridged viewing order? Something that gives her the best of the story and characters and still makes sense? P.S. - She's never read the original Emma.
It's been a good few weeks for Netflix originals in my house. Aside from Hilda and The Haunting of Hill House, I've been greatly enjoying Maniac
While writing up one of the Babylon 5 guest actor posts, I accidentally typed Xanadu as "Canadu", and now I'm imagining a gloriously bad musical with disco roller skating Mounties, and what has my life become?
new post is up
