Ryan watches Fullmetal Alchemist 2003

Yeah, this is happening now. All that spoiler talk about it in the Brotherhood reviews got to me. If nothing else, it should be a good source of entertaining rants.

Mo watches FMA:B

I'm trying to catch up with Mark so let's see how quickly I do it!

(FYI, anything that I've been spoiled for that wasn't covered in the episodes I've watched will be ciphered, so this thread is safe for first-timers who kept pace with Mark, too.)

DC folk/people who have been to DC!

My family is going to be in DC for a couple days next weekend and we will be celebrating my brother's birthday (he'll be 22). Since I went to college there - 3+ years ago - they expect me to have lots of brilliant ideas about what to do. And I do! For things I'd enjoy. I already found a Dr. Who and Buffy happy hour and I'd be perfectly happy brunching, then museums/monuments. But my bro is more of a "doing actiony stuff" kind of guy. We may go to a water park but that's my only suggestion right now. DC United will be in New York and he doesn't care about baseball. So I'm kind of out of ideas for now. If anybody has anything resembling a suggestion or remembers something they enjoyed, throw them my way!

Merida has continued her campaign to enjoy the vestibule, so today when I came back in from throwing out the trash, she took the opportunity to dash out. This has happened about 5 times in the last week and my hands felt pretty gross, so I let the door slam behind me, and washed my hands before going to retrieve her. Well, she must have been paying more attention than in her previous dashes for freedom because when I opened the door, she was standing there, tail in bottle-brush mode and she scuttled right back inside the apartment. I can't hope that it will end her desire to run out the door, but hopefully it will start to impress upon her the possibility of being shut out of home.

An appeal to those of you who play board/card games.

At my library we recently put in a Teen Center with an X-Box Kinect, and I want to get some board/card games for patrons to use at the library, but I’m really not sure what to get. The considerations are these:

1.Games that are not dependent on having all their pieces. Things tend to walk away from the library a lot, so getting a game that’s ruined when something gets lost or stolen isn’t very cost effective.

2.Noise. Some noise is, of course, fine and expected, but really loud games, like Jenga, are out.

3.Cost.

4.Appeal to a wide range of patrons. Another factor in that would be ease of use/how quickly patrons can pick up the game.

So far I’ve decided on the following: Dice, Playing Cards, Chess/Checkers Set (Cheap enough that I can keep a bag of spare pieces), Uno, Monopoly Deal, Banagrams.

I could really use some suggestions! Thank you!

Lossthief Reads Heroes of the Valley

SO I'm taking a break for talking at length about anime nobody but me cares about to talk at length about a BOOK nobody but me cares about. Adventure!

Synopsis:
Halli Sveinsson has grown up in the House of Svein, hearing the legends of the heroes as all his forefathers did. But in this now-peaceful society, Halli has always been a misfit. Stumpy and swarthy, with an aptitude for practical jokes, Halli livens his days by getting into trouble.

But when he plays a trick on Ragnar of the House of Hakon, he goes too far, setting in motion a chain of events that will forever alter his destiny. Because of it, Halli must go on a hero's quest that will bring him head-to-head with highway robbers, terrifying monsters, and a girl who may be as fearless as he is. Along the way he will discover the truth about the legends, his family, and himself.
