So, I don't watch Supernatural other than following the Mark Watches reviews, the musical episode, funny clip compilations, and that one parody by the Hollywood Show (which was amazing, go watch). But I know enough about it to really appreciate this analysis on how the show's horror structure may be at odds with its push for representation. As a writer and someone who strives for fair representation in mine and others' works, I find it absolutely fascinating. The author acknowledges the complexity of the situation, doesn’t lay blame, but doesn’t let go of the fact that deaths of characters on the show have real world consequences.
