is there any way I can resize images on my own, by the way? I'm sorry that a lot of my posts have had these cumbersome images on them.

The Hugo Awards packet is going to be released soon, and I was wondering how people feel about having a trigger warning thread.

I think pretty much everyone is aware of the slate nomination/voting issue, and as a result of that particular group's agenda, there are more than a few works nominated that seem likely to have pretty serious triggers.

I bring this up specifically because I read “The Story of Moira Greyland” by Moira Greyland, which is nominated in the 'Best Related Work' category. I knew some of the background that I figured she'd touch on, and I was prepared for that particular potential trigger (puvyq nohfr, encr), but I was 100,000% unprepared for another potential trigger that showed up in the second half of the piece (ubzbcubovn). It's something that I, personally, am not triggered by, but it was so unexpected that my brain kind of had a 'stutter and reboot' reaction.

So, given that experience, I figured that a thread on the subject might be useful for the community.

With regards to logistics - I'm happy to collate and transfer the warnings from one week to the next, until voting closes. I'm also thinking that it should probably be separate from whatever discussion thread we might have, but then again it may be useful to have this all in one place. I'm torn on that one.

So yeah, what do people think?

Vulture has an interesting article on the current situation of TV, what has it made on different areas (particularly when it comes to actors and writers salaries) as well as to how the shift between quantity and quality has been gutting for traditional TV models.

Does anyone have book suggestions?

I'm reading The Magicians right now (I saw the first season of the show so decided to read the trilogy, I'm half-way through the first book right now) but I have no idea what I should read next.

Joss Whedon says he would come back to Marvel only if he were to direct a female super hero

As much as I love Whedon, the only way I'd like to see him again would be directing (and maybe penning, but I'm not sure on that yet) one episode of Jessica Jones. He needs to go back to his roots, those roots being Buffy.
