I've now seen the first episode of Sailor Moon Crystal, and I have some problems with it. Plaintext Spoilers in the reply.

Lawrence watches Supernatural

Only six episodes this time, but still good progress.

So, 9x06-9x11 this time. Only twelve to go!

Also, randomly, I was out at brunch this morning, and the bar was playing classic rock, and Carry On Wayward Son came on, and a lot of people wondered if I was all right. I will never be able to hear that song again without thinking of utterly heartbreaking tragedy.

Alerting/Waiting/Flailing Post for Mark Watches Videos (for July 14 - 18 episodes)

This is where Mark lets us know when the new videos are up (they're usually uploaded all at once). Please do not try to buy a new episode until he posts here to say there's something new ready to download.

Link exchanges and donations take place on the Black Market post. Below are links to the store page for each show (just click on the show title), plus a list of the episodes that will be uploaded for the week.

SUPERNATURAL
5x08
5x09

STAR TREK:TOS
1x09
1x10
1x11

FARSCAPE (new store page; check replies for link)
1x01
1x02
1x03
1x04
1x05

Note: Videos will go up every Monday/Tuesday as they normally do, no matter what you might see on Mark's Twitter as he's getting ahead before going on tour. The episodes listed in this post should still be what's uploaded for the week.

Question out of nowhere for you all: how did Kill la Kill turn out in the end? Good, bad, great, terrible? I've suddenly picked up the urge to maybe watch it someday, and I'd appreciate heads-up as to whether I'd be wasting my time or not.

I have seen Farscape before (including The Peacekeeper Wars) but the last time I looked it had been removed from Netflix but it's now back! So I guess I will get to re-watch it with Mark after all.
Sword Art Online is coming back!

I wasn't really a participant in this community when the first season was airing, so I don't know if it has a strong following here, but my roommate and I devoured this series during its first season. I didn't even realize it was coming back for another season until a few days ago, and I am getting super pumped for more virtual shenanigans. Is there any interest in a Watches thread?

I may have made a terrible mistake.

I bought a Wii U on Friday and I've been playing Mario Kart 8 all weekend.

That is totally a legitimate reason to call out of work sick all weekever, right?

Nancy needs imagery suggestions!

Mark Reads is gonna need a new banner in a couple of weeks. I've not read Mastiff, so if you have any suggestions for imagery for it, particularly because the (main?) cover is so horrendous, I'd appreciate it. I can go look at a wiki or two, but I'd like to avoid getting myself too spoiled, you know?

Also, even though I've read the next two Discworld books, I don't remember much about them, other than that they weren't my favorite. So imagery suggestions there might be helpful as well. Yeah, I could and probably will read up on the two books on some wiki or other, but suggestions are always nice.

Thanks!

So, project Make All The Youtube Playlists For Mark's Videos is a go! I have so far discovered the following things:

1) There is literally no reliable way to access videos from a user from a specific date range. (Short of the api anyway.) Youtube only has things like "last week" or "last month" or "today", not date ranges, and doing a google video search is not reliable. (Try searching for "Mark Reads" videos from June 28-30, only one of the uploads from the 29th comes up.) So, that is SUPER ANNOYING.

2) The "load more" option when viewing video uploads can only be clicked 34 times! Maybe this varies in other browsers/channels/whatever, I don't know, but I was curious to see how much total stuff there was. Turns out that sorting all uploads by most recent first, then clicking load more all 34 times, gets me as far back as 9 months ago. Sorting by oldest first, then clicking load more 34 times, gets me up to 8 months ago. It barely overlaps!

Anyway, I'm mainly hoping to get all the youtube-only videos in a playlist somewhere, but so far I'm organizing everything else too since I have to scroll past it all anyway. I will post links and stuff when I have some more complete playlists!

So I went to Shakespeare in [Central] Park last night - the last performance of Much Ado About Nothing (spoiler alert: I still can't stand Claudio). It's kind of ordeal to get one of the free tickets they give out on the day of performance - they're given out at noon, but there's a line well before that (I arrived at the line at 3:40am and was about the 50th person and by noon there were hundreds of people behind me, many/most of whom would not get tickets). I got a staggeringly good seat, considering the randomness of the distribution, and when I sat down I heard a very familiar voice behind me.

Alan Rickman. And then I spotted Lucy Liu a couple of rows in front of me. And Taylor Schilling on that same row. (No, people like them don't have to wait in line eight hours for tickets like us plebes.)

It was an okay production. Great Beatrice, good Benedick, WONDERFUL Leonato and Antonio. Like most stage productions, the hiding!Benedick scene was too over-the-top ridiculous. Don John was played by Oberyn Martell. And I got to hear Brian Stokes Mitchell sing live.

I think of all Shakespeare plays that would make a good high school movie, this could be the best and I'm not sure why no one has done it (that I know of). The whole get-them-together and break-them-up (not to mention the slut-shaming) would be perfect for a high school setting. (I now find that there is a web series coming out that puts it in a summer camp setting, which seems even more perfect.)

Hey guys! If you have Pokemon X or Y, you can now download a special Fancy Pattern Vivillon from Mystery Gift!

Babylon 5 fans! A blogger I follow, Siskoid, is about to start daily reviews of the show. He's done Star Trek and Doctor Who in the past (in the latter case, ALL of the classic series too), and I'm looking forward to this.

Note that his reviews can be spoilery as he tends to do a re-watch of a show he already knows, though in the case of B5 he remembers less than for other shows, he says.

At any rate, they will be going up here: http://siskoid.blogspot.ca/search/label/Babylon%2...

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Apparently the first five season 8 Doctor Who scripts were leaked. Make sure you've got tumblr savior at the ready and exercise social media use with EXTREME caution. This is not a drill, folks!

Good luck, stay unspoiled. We're all in this together.
