Oh cool, it looks like I hit 76p. As an amateur trombonist, and an infrequent commenter, that's the number I was most looking forward to.

Hello Spoils! This week we are reading/discussing: The Unknown

Please remember to rot13 any spoilers past this book.

For anyone who wants to read along downloads of the books are available here

Next week: #15: The Escape

Hey fellow Spolies! So I did a thing and recorded a podfic of one of my favorite SPN fics (with the author's permission). Would anyone be interested in being a beta listener? It's my first ever podfic, so comments about enunciation and pacing would be very helpful :)

It's a reading of this fic: http://archiveofourown.org/works/557567
Obviously all of the warnings on the fic itself apply to the podfic. Please be aware that there is a dub-con warning. If you're worried about spoilers, it has a character that doesn't appear until S5, but it's AU so no spoilers for plot points.

The runtime of the podfic is 31 minutes. If you're able to help, let me know and I'll get you a link to an mp3 of the file. Thanks!
so I went to Harry Potter trivia tonight for my birthday, and we didn't win, but we totally had the best team name: "The Best Little Horcrux in Texas." Other notable team names were "Alas, Earwax" and TWO "The Team That Must Not Be Named"s. The rest were either boring or really dirty/had slurs in them. People laughed really loud at those. Sigh.

We got to the bar half an hour early and it was STILL already packed with people waiting for tables. We thought we were going to have to turn around and go home, but what they ended up doing was getting the bar next door to do the trivia simultaneously, so everyone who came could participate. That poor bar had no idea it was going to be packed with Harry Potter fans on a Sunday night! But they adapted well. The quizmaster didn't know ANYTHING about Harry Potter, which was kind of amusing since he kept mispronouncing things and saying stuff like "The Tale of Beedle and the Bard," but also kind of sad because come on, dude.

I don't think anyone dressed up in full wizard robes, but there were a lot of people in t-shirts that said stuff like Gryffindor Quidditch Team or Dumbledore's Army. My roommate wore her Weird Sisters shirt and I wore my Deathly Hallows symbol necklace. Fun times.

Other potential team names we dreamed up: "Dumbledore's Navy," "What the Hell is a Hufflepuff," and "Dead Sirius."

I'm probably going to finish it this week. I'm both excited and kind of sad about that.

hi all!

Does anyone know if in Vancouver one can tour the tv studios like you can in Hollywood? You know just an ordinary buy-a-ticket get-a-tour thing? Does anyone know where they are (I won't have grounds transpo, would have to cab)? I promise I'm not a crazy stalker. I have a meeting coming up and thought I would sneak away or add a day to the trip and have a little fun since so many shows are made there (as I understand it).

Let's talk about magic systems!

So, this is something that I wanted to keep a little bit separate from the writing group I'm trying to get going because I consider it more of a communal brainstorming activity. I'm currently getting back into a webcomic idea that I've had for a long time, as I've once again found a potential artist. While I am well-versed at this point in how easily an artist can fall through (especially when my ability to pay said artist is rather limited), I'm taking advantage of the fact that I feel inspired once more to finally see if I can craft a magic system for this story, and I'm looking for your input on it!

I thought we already had a Good Stuff Thread this week but my mind was apparently still stuck in last week. Well, now we have one. :)

I just got sad because I realized that this year I can't go to Television Without Pity to check out the highs/lows of this year's Tony's. I might have to actually watch them!
So there I was, innocently browsing old Veronica Mars posts on MW, when I came across something which might not necessarily be hilarious, but is definitely too bizarre not to share. TW for brief mentions of blood.

Star Trek Scheduling

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that your concerns about the movies were noted and the master schedule has been update accordingly. Mark intends (has always intended) to watch everything in airing order, he just got some incorrect information somewhere along the way. So those movies will get slotted in amongst the TNG episodes where they belong. Thanks for pointing that out!

I CAN'T ACCESS ROT13.com

Disaster strikes!

I can't tell if it is actually down or if this is just another "my workplace has thrown a new filter on things" sort of thing.

Does anyone know of any other good alternatives?

Tonight is my second night of overnight shifts. I got home and went to bed around 6:30 am and slept (more or less) until 2pm. I have not taken a nap today, and I'm questioning the wisdom of that decision, as it is 7:30 and I need to leave for the hospital in about 30 min (I'm stopping for coffee tonight; energy drinks are not sufficient to combat the intensive conditioning I did all year to maintain my diurnal schedule. Hot coffee is quintessentially a morning beverage for me, though, so I'm hoping that I can replicate the feeling of morning-ness through that cue).

After last week, this is apparently a thing that I'm doing. A few little sentences here and there, nothing big.
