I’m posting this as a spokesperson for the three MDS mods involved in today’s banning. We’ve been unbanned so that we can speak about today’s events.
First off, we would like to sincerely apologize to those who were hurt by the Hannibal thread. It was absolutely not intended to hurt anyone or make them uncomfortable. We are very sorry if that was the result.
Our absent responses from the thread once it devolved can be simply explained- we genuinely did not want to cause any more drama. In hindsight, we should probably have apologized, but at the time we agreed that to continue the discussion might cause further issues and we wanted to avoid being banned. That didn’t go so well did it?
We would like to point out that at no point were we warned that we were in danger of being banned, from either mod, on any social media site. We are also not aware of alleged prior “shitty comments” that supposedly contributed to our banning. As far as we know, we have been decent contributing members of this community up until 72 hours ago.
We have all been deeply hurt by the accusations of sexism and racism that were attributed to our actions. I, as a WOC, am particularly hurt by having been told that I was using white privilege to hurt fellow WOCs. I know that this aspect of my life was not widely known until today, but the assumption still stings. And the fact that we were never given the courtesy of a warning hurts deeper still.
I don’t think we will be back after this. I would like to thank you for the wonderful times you’ve provided me in the past. You have helped me through some truly dark moments. I’m sorry to have to leave this way.

I'm reposting this for those that didn't see it, since I put it up toward the end of the week last time. Sorry to be a bother about this.
I don't normally do things like this, but I'm trying to spread the word about my older brother's kickstarter for his card game. Him and his partner (who's basically a second older brother to me) have a small game company in Portland, Oregon, and this is their first attempt to kickstart. The game is seriously addicting, and a lot of fun (and that's coming from someone who normally doesn't like card games!).
The game itself is called "Madness" (sorry for the ableist slur there, but they already own the name and everything). The basic premise of the game is that a zombie outbreak has begun, and it is up to the players to find the cure! It is very fast-paced, with up to four players, and in addition to trying to create the cure first, one has to contend with action cards of varying kinds, and a cure that is constantly evolving to match the disease.
