So with Mark's new Watches schedule I guess the 10 AM posts are suspended for now? Looks like we'll be getting mini reviews and links to the videos for those episodes all lumped into a single post on Mondays for the time being.

So yesterday I went on a real life choose-your-own-adventure walk using a magic box to tune into scenes from the 1820s. It was pretty awesome! I still can't work out quite how it was done, so I am assuming that I actually made contact with visitors to a garden gala and manipulated history.

Okay, can we talk about Doctor Who?

I had a dream last night that Mark was starting a big commissioned rewatch of Breaking Bad and I got REALLY EXCITED. But then I woke up and it was a dream, which made me really sad.

My French is super rusty, so I torrented Rosetta Stone!

Has anyone else here used Rosetta Stone?

I just started Lesson 2 and idk what to think so far.

It's a very different style of learning than I'm used to, but we'll see how things go.

justcannibalthings continues to be fantastic, even if I'm still working out my feelings about this scene as there are so many to choose from.
http://justcannibalthings.tumblr.com/

Really this whole fandom has rapidly become my favourite, mainly due to how many ridiculous jokes you can get from a pretty dark show. It seems to be the best way to cope with it really.

Elexus Reads Feed

Okay...long time no post, but I sorta got carried away and didn't want to stop reading and finished the whole book. Sorry. Ops. Sometimes I forget how bad Mark has it, getting just 2 or 3 chapters per week.

Anyway, plaintext talk in the reply.

megotelek wants to do a liveblog!

Specifically, I want to do an original Star Trek movie liveblog. They're all available through Netflix Instant, but the ones I'd be interested in doing (unsurprisingly) are 2, 4 and 6. I like 3 just fine, but it really doesn't work without 2 and 4.

So, is anyone interested, and if so, which movie would you prefer:

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan: How much scenery-chewing can one movie handle? Ricardo Montalban vs. William Shatner: go!

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home: Also known as "the one with the whales!"

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country: Murder mystery! Political intrigue! In spaaaace! Also, floating purple Klingon blood.

If there's enough interest to do one of them, we can figure out timing next!

Arachne copes with extreme anger running through her veins

Come Ghrfqnl riravat I can go into more detail. But every day -- or perhaps every hour -- I plan on doing something delightful to combat the negative feelings about the drama my team is going through.

For instance, in a little while I will venture out into the world to have lunch and read about Javascript, jQuery, and other things that my new position will need me to know. On my wonderful Retina iPad. Maybe I will take a cow or two along with me.

Then I will spend the rest of the afternoon at my favorite cafe on the island, sipping tea and writing about... stuff. Not sure yet what kind of stuff. BUT STUFF NONTHELESS.

Then this evening I will eat at my favorite restaurant on the island.

And that will be Day 1 of the Rest of My Tenure on Old Team.

Hyaroo Watches A Doctor Who Episode for the first time and it's "The Name of the Doctor"

Okay. You know what? To this day, I have never seen a single second of Doctor Who. I wasn't actually planning to either.. But seeing on this thread, there was all this complaining about the newest episode and... well, I got curious. So I decided to watch one Doctor Who episode, namely the latest one. "The Name of the Doctor." Just to see if I understood any of it.

Like Mark, I'm not very prepared. Going in, I know these things about Doctor Who:

- Doctor Who is a time-traveller or something. He's a "Time Lord," which I don't know what is, but it probably has something to do with time travel.
- He journeys around in something called a TARDIS, which I guess is a time machine?
- Oh, and it's bigger on the inside than the outside.
- Doctor Who can "regenerate" when he dies; i.e. he can be played by a different actor. He's currently on his eleventh actor.
- He has companions with him on his time journeys, but they tend to change as episodes or seasons go by.
- One companion's name was Rose, but she died or something, and now the fans all hate her because Doctor Who refuses to shut up about how perfect she was.
- There are some robot things called Daleks that are bad guys.
- There's someone named River Song who is either really cool or either really not-cool. I've had mixed messages there.
- There are... aliens? I think?
- There's a spin-off called Torchwood? I forget what the main character is called. Captain something?
- Douglas Adams used to write for the show.
- Steven Moffat is now running the show.

Okay, that's the entirety of my Doctor Who knowledge. Let's see what I pick up as I watch the episode "The Name of the Doctor."
