The Great 30-Day Who MEME!!!! - Day Twenty-one

What is your favorite location?

I'll admit it; I'm not quite sure what this day is supposed to be about.

I figured that it couldn't be a favorite era since we already had that topic, so are we supposed to talk about our favorite set? Favorite location where the Who cast filmed?

Since I have no clue I'm going with an oldie and a goodie. The infamous Doctor Who gravel quarry!

WARNING: TV Tropes - BBC Quarry

Oh beloved gravel quarry.... Is there no alien landscape you cannot portray?

So what about you? What is your favorite location? (Whatever you take that to mean.)

Tomorrow: Something SILLY!

Yeah this is a tough one, there's a lot of really lovely locations so I think I'm going to have to resort to the good old fashioned list.

1. The Library, because a planet sized library? Yes please.
2. Weird choice but, Amy's House. I love it and want to live there (maybe not with the alien fugitive in the back room though). I love the overgrown garden, the unfinished paint on the stairs, it just feels very lived in.
3. Starship UK, I've said this several time I know but I do genuinely love the look of it.
4. Sardicktown from A Christmas Carol, soooo pretty I want to live there!.

There's probably a lot of places that I loved and have forgotten though.
The TARDIS. It's more the idea really. All those rooms yet unexplored in canon...

And I linked it in Mark's blog once, but check out this fanwork for a fannish look at a TARDIS blueprint.

As soon as I have the strength, I'm going to strangle whoever gave me this stomach virus.

Favorite location, eh? I... have a few. I think we'll go with a top five.

5) Starship UK. I'm a fan of it too.

4) The Ood Sphere. Snowy? Home planet of the Ood? Yeah, sign me up.

3) Sardicktown. It's so pretty!

2) The Library. If only I could live in a planet-sized library that didn't have Vashta Nerada. :(

1) The Aplan Temple/Maze of the Dead from Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone. Not somewhere I'd want to live, but OMG did it look cool and creepy. One of the reasons I put down the 51st century as my favorite era.
I'm going to go with production locations for my answer, because I can't narrow it down otherwise. My favorite location has to be Trogir, Croatia where they filmed Vampires of Venice and Vincent and the Doctor. Trogir provided just a beautiful tone for each episode, and I think it really boosted the Vamp episode from what it would have been if filmed somewhere in the UK.

OT, sorry. I have to ask what's up with that bus? Why is it telling me Gallifrey doesn't exist?

Gallifrey. If there's a serial that takes place on Gallifrey, I will eat it up. It doesn't matter if it looks like any other "planet," same corridors and the outdoors just tinted orange. I love it. That goes for Big Finish too. One of the first audios I listened to was "The Apocalypse Element," just because a lot of it was set on Gallifrey and Romana was in it. I haven't listened to the "Gallifrey" spin-off yet, but that's sure to happen soon enough.
Regarding the infamous BBC quarry, Four has something to say on the subject:

Anyway. My favorite place is the Library. Go figure.

The Library for me, hands down (with the Tardis being a close second). Seriously, a whole planet full of just shelves of books? That's called heaven for a bookworm like me.
